Emil Karl Benz, 84, of Beloit, WI, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born August 9, 1941 in Portland, OR, the son of Emil E. and Gertrude (Giesmann) Benz. Emil was a graduate of David Douglas High School. He married Mary Lou Meier on September 2, 1988 in Las Vegas, NV.

Emil was employed by the City of Beloit as the Director of Wastewater, retiring on April 1, 2000. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou; children, Karl (Jenny) Benz of Canby, OR, Paul Benz of Salem, OR, Bryan (Pook) Benz of Roseburg, OR and Michelle Ford of Webster, WI; eight grandchildren, Liliya Benz, Clarice Benz, Kyleen Benz, Nikita Benz, Alec Benz, Nadine Ford, and Justin Ford; nine great grandchildren, Luna Benz, Briana Ford, Hunter Sylvester, Bella Ford, Gracie Ford, Benjamin Ford, Gregor Ford and Lucy Ford.

He was predeceased by his parents and daughter, Cynthia Benz.

A Memorial Service for Emil will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026 in Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1531 Townline Avenue, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Dan Eddy officiating. Visitation of remembrance will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the church.
